 Costume Museum

Costume is an external symbol of a nation. Tu's costume, featuring bright colors, unique style and exquisite embroidery, is favored by common people. The five-color embroidered dress Tu women wear has such five colors as red, yellow, green, black and white on sleeves, representing the colors of the rainbow, so the land of Tu is called the "homeland of rainbow". Tu women are good at embroidery. They beautify life and decorate themselves with their wisdom and dab hands. When Tu girls grow to 7 or 8 years old, they must learn three things under the guidance of their mothers and sisters – embroidering, singing wedding lament, and wailing at funeral. The Costume Museum mainly presents the unique style of Tu's costume and embroidery in different historical periods. In 2006, Tu's embroidery was included in the list of the first batch of national-level intangible cultural heritage upon approval of the State Council. In 2008, Tu's costume was included in the list of the second batch of national-level intangible cultural heritage upon approval of the State Council.
